When we say we’re Wicked about hair health, we mean it. Choosing the right color line wasn’t just about beautiful results. It was about chemistry, integrity, and long-term care for your hair.
The Truth About Ammonia (and Its Supposed Alternatives)
Most hair color lines use anywhere from 4% to 13% ammonia to open the hair cuticle and allow pigment to penetrate. It’s effective, but harsh. Too much ammonia can roughen the hair’s surface, weaken bonds, and strip away natural shine. That’s harsher than it needs to be.
To make things sound gentler, many companies switched to MEA (Monoethanolamine), an ingredient they often market as a safer, ammonia-free alternative.
Here’s the catch:
MEA doesn’t evaporate. It stays in the hair, continuing to process over time.
And unless it’s neutralized, it can even reactivate every time you wash your hair.
That means that “ammonia-free” often translates to “still damaging, just slower.”
Enter: EuforaColor
We chose EuforaColor because it solves the problem from the inside out.
Instead of relying on high concentrations of harsh chemicals, Eufora uses micromolecular technology that allows pigment to enter more efficiently, with less stress to the hair.
Think of it this way:
Most color lines use pigment particles the size of sand grains.
Eufora’s are the size of dust particles.
Smaller pigments mean:
- More color saturation
- Less damage
- Longer-lasting results
- Healthier shine
Because the pigment particles are so fine, the color doesn’t need as much power to penetrate the strand. That allows us to work with under 20 volume developer, and less than 1% ammonia or MEA.
Why It Matters:
EuforaColor isn’t progressive.
When your stylist says it’s done, it’s done.
That means no slow oxidation, no dull fade, and no ongoing damage between appointments.
Just beautiful, controlled, lasting color.
Many of our guests have even been able to move from full Transform sessions to Resculpt appointments maintaining their color with less time, less stress, and less cost.
